Robotic welding applications

With robotic automation for arc, MIG, TIG, laser and spot welding, we deliver quality, speed and repeatability in production.

Definition

What is robotic welding?

Robotic welding is the use of programmed industrial robots to perform arc, MIG, TIG, laser and spot welding. Because the robot welds every part with the same path, speed and parameters, quality is stabilized, cycle time is shortened and the operator is removed from a hazardous environment.

A robotic welding cell typically consists of a welding robot, a welding power source and torch, a fixture or positioner, fume extraction and safety fencing. In cells with a positioner, the operator loads the next part at the other station while the robot welds, so the equipment never sits idle.

The system reduces inconsistencies in welding processes, supports workplace safety and delivers more stable results in series production.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about robotic welding

Which materials can be welded robotically?

Robotic welding is used on most weldable metals, especially carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. The MIG/MAG, TIG, laser or spot welding process is selected based on the material and its thickness.

How much floor space does a robotic welding cell need?

Floor space depends on part size, the number of stations and the positioner type. During the preliminary analysis, we draw the cell layout in 3D and verify together how it fits into your existing facility.

Can the robot still weld accurately if part tolerances vary?

Yes. With functions such as touch sensing and through-the-arc seam tracking, the robot detects small positional deviations in the part and corrects its path automatically.

Who programs the welding robot?

We prepare the programs during commissioning and then train your operators to program new parts. With off-line programming, you can also prepare new parts without stopping production.
